Solid Waste Management — 1990

WHEREAS, the problem of garbage disposal is becoming more urgent as landfills close and more stringent rules are promulgated by the Environmental Protection Agency; and

WHEREAS, large-scale landfills and mass-burn incineration contribute significantly to the degradation of water and air; and

WHEREAS, the South Dakota Resources Coalition supports environmentally sound and sustainable alternatives; now

Therefore be it resolved that the South Dakota Resources Coalition advocates source reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting as preferred methods of solid waste management.

This resolution was adopted by the members present at the 1990 Annual Meeting of the South Dakota Resources Coalition
